Ques1: What are some good island vacations places. What are the list of names for the islands? When to visit them? Ques2: Can you give me any suggestions on an alternative or is Daydream the place to go. Also if any prices are available for that time of year would also be appreciated. Ques3: Can you suggest some 4-star accommodation on the resort islands?. Ques4: We are two visitors to your area from London UK in mid November. What resort type accommodation (4-star approx) is available in Airlie? Ques5: I'm trying to find out information regarding accomodation in Airlie Beach for December - can you tell me of any hotels in the area or guest houses, we are two couples and do not want to stay in back packer accomodation of which there is plenty - can you help ? I have been told of a place called Club Crocodile, do you know what it is like ? Ques6: 14 Jan 1999: I am travelling to the Whitsundays from the States in February. If I want to stay in the backpacker hostels, should I make arrangements in advance?
back to top Ans2: All the islands (except Hayman) cater for children, but Daydream is geared up better than any of them, with a new million-dollar-plus children's centre recently opened. It's also one of the better quality resorts, accomodation and facilities-wise. [Note: Since the above was written, Daydream has changed ownership and is to be closed for restructuring in late 2000. Whether the emphasis on children will still apply in 2001 remains to be seen.] 08 Oct 1998: Ans3: Hamilton Island (07-4946 9999) offers various types of accommodation. Depending on availability if booking locally you would have the choice of the Beach Club for $250 per room per night or Reef Towers from $180 - $210. (Includes return launch transfers). Hayman Island (07-4940 1234) is rated as one of the top ten resorts in the world and tariffs begin at $490 per room per night. Ans4: Mediterranean Resorts ( 07- 4946 6391) Toscana Resort (07-4946 4455) Coral Sea Resort (07 4946 6458) All the Airlie Resorts are within easy walking distance to the village heart - both Mediterranean and Toscana are fully self-contained and are located on a hill overlooking Airlie and the Coral Sea. Tariff commences at $135 for two per day. Coral Sea is more a boutique style resort (bedroom only) situated on the point in Airlie with rates starting at $160. Ans5: Club Crocodile is a fairly economical resort oriented towards families and the sort of crowd who don't mind a slightly 'louder' atmosphere (constant canned music, karaoke-style entertainment etc.). They charge around $40 per person. Ans6:
A wide choice of backpacker hostels are to be found in the resort town
of Airlie Beach. You won't need to book in advance in February - it's
traditionally a quiet month. |
